Six Months Old

6 months old

Today is Wilder's 6 month birthday. I feel like it's such a milestone! My baby is halfway to a year old--where has the time gone?? He's been growing in leaps and bounds. This month, Wilder:

• Weighs 15 lb .05 oz and is 25.75" long
• Sits up by himself for long periods of time
• Takes baths sitting up by himself in the big tub
• Says things like "kkkk" and "guh" and "mmmmmm" and "ddddd" along with all kinds of loud long singing
• Still teething off and on but no teeth yet
• Has slept through the night (from 8 pm to 7 am) like EIGHT times in the last two weeks. Regularly sleeps 6-8 hours straight. I don't know how long this will last, but it's been really amazing!
• Picks up and drops toys like a claw machine, especially his soft cube
• Stands up and bounces off your lap or the bed all the time. While being held of course :-)
• Insists on turning pages (and trying to eat) books. We are only reading board books for the time being because of this.
• Loves spending time in the shade outside on a picnic blanket
• Likes listening to classical music--he'll stop whatever he's doing to listen quietly or sing
• Has started eating solid table food. His favorite is broccoli so far.
• Loves grabbing a cup of water and drinking out of it. He is the master of backspit though!

Five Months Old

5 months old

Wilder turned 5 months ten days ago (4/25/14) but I'm just now getting to his blog post. :-) This month, Wilder:

• Weighs 14 lb 10 oz and 24.5 inches
• Can sit up unassisted for periods of time
• Says baby words all the time, especially if you make him mad (like taking too long to feed him at night)
• Is teething, but no teeth yet
• Sleeps in his own room!
• Gets up 2-3 times a night
• Loves his Sophie giraffe
• Wants to grab everything Zach and I eat at the table
• Laughs when you put a book in front of him and talks as he turns pages
• Loves being outside and will hang out on a blanket on the lawn for hours (if we wanted to do that!)
• Chews on his feet and can rest his head on his feet if he leans forward sitting up
• Wants to pet the kitties and puppy as much as they'll let him
• Smacks the table and doors just to hear the noise
• Likes to see people and be in the middle of everything

He's such a fun little boy and I can't believe he's 5 months old!  Here are some photos from his 5 month old birthday. :-)

Baby's first Bluebonnets

If you're from Texas, you MUST take photos at some point in your life in a field of bluebonnets. Last weekend my mother-in-law and I took Wilder to a field near her house in Cedar Hill. Incidentally, Zach and I took photos there in 2009, just a few weeks before we got engaged!

Four Months Old

Four Months Old

Today we are headed to Florida to visit family. This is Wilder's first plane ride! He's such a joy to be with--everything is interesting and entertaining to him. He has such a sweet heart so far!

This month, Wilder:

• Weights 14 pounds and is 24.75 inches long.
• Rolled over from back to front
• Prefers to sleep on his side
• Takes naps in his pack n play--no more naps in the swing. He gets to be in his big boy crib when we get back!
• Baby talks, laughs, squawks, screeches--you name it. He is constantly trying to communicate with everyone.
• He felt grass for the first time and LOVED it. This kid loves being outside.
• Has gotten awesome at tummy time
• Tries to walk when you hold him upright
• Reaches out to hug his family
• Tries to pet the cats and dog
• Turns pages in his books
• Puts many things in his mouth
• Alternates between waking up 3x a night and sleeping through the night. Can't be too predictable Mom!

Three Months Old

I feel like Wilder is really coming into his own personality these days. We had a good time this morning taking these photos. This month, Wilder:

• Weighs 12.1 lbs and is 24 inches long
• Moved into size 2 diapers
• Blows raspberries and bubbles
• Can stand up and take steps if you're supporting him
• Holds his head up all the time
• Grabs your finger and his toys with a good grip
• Discovered my hair and grabs it - yay…
• Loves his wubbanub paci (he can put it in his mouth on his own), Sophie the giraffe and his linking rings on road trips
• Has slept all the way through the night twice--but usually just wants an early morning snack every night
• Turns the pages when we read books
• Chimes in with the piano when his Mimi or I play for him

He is visiting the pediatrician on Thursday so I'll update with his size and weight after his appointment!
