Wilder is 2!

My big 2 year-old!
As of today, we are no longer in the "2 under 2" club! I can't believe it. My precious first born baby boy is two years old today. It feels like yesterday that we were bringing him home, but I can't imagine life without Wilder Dean in our lives. He brings so much laughter and joy to our house. These days he's full of exploration and careful observation of his surroundings. He talks all day and we are amazed at the things he says. I'm so looking forward to watching him grow and mature even more, but I wish I could freeze time sometimes!

Many times a day, Wilder looks at Felicity and says "Baby sister. So tiny. So little. Diaper?" And gently touches her head. That's about the extent of his interest, for now. It will be interesting to see how he does when she can play with toys, because right now they're all Wilder's hand me downs and he suddenly is interested in his baby toys again.

Wilder has a lot of love these days. One day earlier this month, he announced "I love pumpkins!" "I love rocks!" and when he went to bed that evening I showed him his frog, Elmo and puppy. He gathered them in his arms and said "I love all you people!"

Two nights ago, Zach, Felicity, Wilder and I were sitting with him reading books before bed. He grabbed all his favorites and said "I love books." So we read Green Eggs and Ham... for the 5th time a row.

Dean told a story the other day at the dinner table. When he was done, Wilder said with perfect timing "Hmm. Interesting."

Pouches are his favorite food, forever and ever amen. Also cheerios. Pretty much, he's a toddler. He does love his fruit (strawberries, blackberries, apples, pears) and will usually try a lot of things if we put balsamic vinegar on it or let him dip it in balsamic and olive oil. He alternates between picking at the meal and eating pouches galore... and chowing down on everything on his plate.

He sleeps from around 8 to 7:30 each night, but he's been getting up at least once a night for a diaper change and to be rocked. He naps 2-3 hours in the afternoon.

He weighs 24 pounds and he's 32 inches tall. He's a little guy for his age, but that's ok! Still wearing 12 month old pants, but he can wear 24 month old tops and his pajamas are 2T.

Here are some photos at the park and house I grew up in down in San Antonio. I spent many hours playing there as a kid -- it's gotten majorly upgraded. :-)

Felicity 1 Month

1 month!

It's hard to believe that one month ago, Felicity entered our world. It seems like yesterday, and yet, I can't imagine our family without her. She is a precious girl, already smiling at us and looking around her world in those brief awake times... That are often late at night. We love our sweet baby, and as she adjusts to her new life outside of mama, I look forward to learning all about her. And chronicling her growing here!

We've spent many hours together in the last month. Breastfeeding is a commitment, y'all! But thanks to resources and past experiences, this BF journey has been a bit easier the second time around. She had tongue and lip ties like Wilder, but I got them revised at 5 days old--several weeks before a Wilder's. I was still damaged where she was chomping, but not as much. We're still working on her latch, but she's much better.

She prefers to sleep on my chest or Zach's rather than lying on her back for sleep. Who wouldn't? She doesn't like the halo swaddlesacks, but she'll tolerate one called the Love to Dream (thanks Bec!!) that lets her hold her hands up by her face and that has helped. Still, she sleeps in 1.5-2.5 hour stretches. Per usual for a newborn. I don't mind for now because she does go back to sleep easily. I'll sleep someday :-)

More about Felicity this month:
- She can hold her head up for a short time
- Smiles at us sometimes!
- already wearing size 1 diapers and 3 month old clothes (they're a little big)
- can track family members voices and look at them. Especially her big brother!
- can push against you with her feet
- hates the car seat
-loves to be worn in a wrap
- weighed 9.5 lb last week and was 21.5 inches long 2 weeks ago. Apparently she's in the 97th percentile for height!

Here are some more photos from rainy today!

And here are some newborn photos by the uber-talented Jashley Boatwright!

So sad. We can't find Pierre. He's been missing two weeks now :-(

Seriously mom?

love this one so much!
